Laune Library will serve customers as usual until December 31, 2025. When operations end, a large part of the collection will be relocated to other libraries.
During the autumn, we will inform Laune Library customers about practical library service matters. The closure may cause changes toward the end of the year, for example, to loan due dates or reservation pickup locations.
In southern Lahti, Renkomäki Library, Liipola Library, and the mobile library Saaga will also serve Laune Library customers. The main library and other local libraries in Lahti—Ahtiala, Jalkaranta, Kärpänen, Mukkula, and Nastola—are also available.
The mobile library routes have been adjusted to account for the closure of Laune Library. The updated autumn routes have been planned in anticipation of the change, and new stops have been added, including a new mobile library stop at Laune Family Park. During the autumn, we will gather customer feedback on mobile library stop locations. This gives residents the opportunity to influence which stops will best serve Laune residents starting in 2026.
On November 13, Laune Library will host a Library Memories from Laune evening, where memories from over the years will be shared and the significance of the local library will be discussed together.
In autumn 2024, the Wellbeing and Leisure Committee unanimously decided to close Laune Library as of January 1, 2026.
