Lahti City Library’s 150th anniversary celebrations continue this autumn with a diverse programme of events. The themes of the season are encounters, conversation and reminiscence, and the library offers a wide range of content exploring humanity, society, literature, music and culture.
The programme includes Erätauko discussions, reading groups, a new Music Club, a film club, and visits from authors and musicians. Among this autumn’s guests are historian and archaeologist Minna Silver, author Helena Steen, and crime writers Noora Mustajoki and Bosse Hellsten. Music enthusiasts can enjoy biographical literature events featuring Peer Günt’s legendary drummer Erkki “Twist, Twist” Erkinharju, who will discuss his memoir, while Tuire Ranta-Meyer presents her work on composer Erkki Melartin. New additions to the children’s and young people’s programme include temporary transfer "tattoo" workshops, combining visual arts and creative writing.
The season’s events have been compiled in the Library Autumn brochure, available at libraries and in digital format. Selected events will be streamed, and all events are organised with accessibility and inclusivity in mind.
