3D Printing: Lahti Main Library

On the second floor of the Lahti Main Library, in the Media and Music Area, you can try 3D printing with the help of the staff. The 3D printer allows you to create physical objects from digital model files. Try printing objects such as a keychain, earrings or a cookie cutter. The material used in the 3D printer is PLA plastic. The material in the printer may not be changed. To use the printer you need a memory stick and a 3D model in ufp format.

You can convert an STL file to ufp format either on your own computer or in the Editing room of the Lahti Main Library, using the Cura program. Cura is free open-source software that can be downloaded from the Ultimaker website.

You can book a 3D printing session via the Timmi booking system or at the Music Area Service Desk. You may also ask for the staff to help you to get started  at mediaohjaajat@lahti.fi
